Whether you’re making or buying them, ‘protein’ balls are usually mainly dried fruit, nuts & seeds/nut butter, maybe with some oats, occasionally protein powder & then sweet flavours (maple, honey, cinnamon, cacao etc). That however means your protein ball is actually a sugar and fat based snack which isn’t great for our metabolic balance.

These babies are far from that, in fact they contain zero fruit & are super satisfying, super easy to make & actually much more cost effective than the fruity forms mentioned above.

You can use tomato paste, hemp hearts, different beans etc too. White beans, tomato paste & nutritional yeast is 👌🏻.

Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons jumbo oats
  • 1/2 cup black beans
  • 1/2 cup cayenne & rosemary activated nuts and seeds (I get mine from Boundless)
  • 1 tablespoon black olive paste
  • 2 tablespoon sesame seeds

Preparation

Add oats to a food processor, blitz to a coarse flour. Then add beans, nuts & olive paste. Blend until you have a sticky dough.

Roll into balls, coat in the sesame seeds & pop in the fridge for use within a week.
